British politician Shaun Woodward recently sold his East Hampton estate for $16.75 million, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report.

The sale comes on the heels of another big-ticket transaction -- a Wainscott peninsula and estate, above, that went for $23 million.

Woodward, the millionaire Labour Party member of Parliament and former shadow secretary of state for Northern Ireland, put his restored 1920s six-bedroom, seven-bath home near the Atlantic Ocean on the market this year for $18.5 million. A limited liability company, 33 HBTC, purchased the 1.2-acre estate, which has a heated pool, a separate guest cottage and a two-car garage and views of Hook Pond and the Maidstone Club grounds.

Public records show that Eel Cove Trust bought the Wainscott property (left), a 2.5-acre penisula with 724 feet on Georgica Pond. It came on the market in 2010 for $29.9 million. The renovated late 19th-century Meditteranean-style house is 5,000 square feet with four bedrooms and 4.5 baths.

Public records and published reports identify the seller as Robert Benton, a Hollywood director of "Kramer Vs. Kramer" who wrote the screenplay for "Bonnie and Clyde."
