A waterfront 18.4-acre family compound and equestrian facility in Wainscott has come on the market for $72 million.

The property contains three houses, several barns and a vacant lot.

One 2.7-acre parcel contains a five-bedroom house with a pool and 432 feet of frontage on Wainscott Pond with views of the ocean. The house was built in the 1920s but was recently updated.

On another 11.7-acre parcel, there is a house built in the 1600s with a working horse farm. There also are several barn buildings and paddocks, as well as 200 feet of pond frontage and more ocean views.

There also are two 1.9-acre lots. One has a greenhouse and a cottage; the other only has horse paddocks. A house can be built on each of the parcels.

According to the listing with Sotheby's International Realty, the property has been in the same family for centuries. Property records show that it belongs to the Toppings.

"There's nothing like it anywhere -- the views, the privacy, the trees and where it is in relation to beaches," says Barbara Bornstein of Sotheby's International Realty, who is co-listing the property with Dana Trotter and Cynthia Shea. "The possibilities are unlimited as to what you can create or you can keep it as is."
