Why it’s for sale Now that McGarry’s two children are on their own, she says it’s time to downsize.

Call it love at first sight. McGarry, 51, says that when she first saw this eight-room Tudor more than three years ago, she just had to have it. What appealed to her most were “beautiful details,” such as stained-glass windows, a stone fireplace and wrought-iron railing on the staircase. The layout, McGarry says, offers a nice flow, rooms with doors that can be left open while entertaining or closed for privacy. Enhancements include a renovated kitchen and a finished basement. There is a bedroom and a bathroom on the main level, which McGarry says is great for company, while there are another two bathrooms and three bedrooms, including the master suite, which has a terrace. McGarry, who stays at home, chats about a few more of her favorite things:

“The two-story entry has a beautiful wraparound staircase with wrought iron railing — that’s the initial effect when you walk in. It makes a nice impression ... The family room has a radiant-heat slate floor and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a mature landscape with mountain laurels, rhododendrons and azaleas — it’s a nice place to sit ... The house is on a quiet dead end with great Rockville Centre schools.
