Why it’s for sale John, 42, a court officer in Manhattan, and Alicia, 38, a nurse practitioner, say they want to move closer to their work.

The Protivas have owned their 3,200-square-foot house since 2011. John shares his thoughts on the property:

“The open floor plan is an entertainer’s dream. We can have 30 people here for a party, plus 50 outside. We have two decks, plus a brick area. It’s a real parklike setting. The houses are very far apart. The privacy is great. If you sit on the front porch or look out the master bedroom or office, you can see Knapps Lake. In the morning, I love watching steam on the lake. . . .

"My wife redecorated the family room. We added the wood ceiling. We added fencing and fancy brick to part of the driveway. The kitchen is great for large family gatherings. We have a six-burner Viking stove, a double oven and heat lamps to keep food warm. . . . We have two fireplaces, a gas fireplace in the great room and a wood-burning fireplace in the front room. There are six skylights, and most of the downstairs has high cathedral ceilings. . . .

"There’s plenty of storage space. There’s space for a handyman shop or a man cave. We have a full basement, a 2½-car garage, a large shed and a full attic. I have so much storage. The fifth bedroom is a walk-in closet where my wife stores her abundance of pocketbooks and shoes.”
