Why it's for sale: Al Queirolo, 59, a project engineer at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Donna D'Amore, 56, a bed-and-breakfast hostess, freelance recruiter and Web designer, say they want to downsize and are planning to retire in the next couple of years.

The  3,200-square-foot house works as a private residence or a bed-and-breakfast, as it has been since 2007. The 1892 house was a parsonage for the local Methodist church. The property abuts 15 acres of horse pastures, home to six rescue horses.

Al says: "The house is true to the original 1890s design, with wide moldings, dentil molding in the formal rooms and a three-story tower that houses the stairwell. The bedrooms have exposed beams and cathedral ceilings.

"We have many large closets, which is unusual for an older house. . . . The B&B part is the living room, dining room and entire upstairs. . . . The private side is a large master bedroom over the attached garage, a den, a bathroom and the kitchen and butler's pantry."
