Why it’s for sale The couple, both 69, are moving to Tennessee. Philippe, who retired in 2004, worked for the State Insurance Fund as a policy holders services representative, while Marie, a registered nurse, recently retired from the State Department of Health.

In a word, Marie describes this 1.04-acre property as scenic. “It feels like a personal slice of nature,” she says. As for the nine-room Colonial, it’s spacious with five bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and a finished basement. Philippe said the house is “very flexible,” noting its roomy enough to invite extended family, accommodate a private office or even maid’s quarters. Other features include wood floors, Anderson windows, central air conditioning, a fireplace, sliding glass doors to the deck and lots of updates. Since the couple moved in 11 years ago, they have been making enhancements. And they’re still at it. Right now, they are replacing all the closet doors. Marie chats some more about the property and house:

“When I stand out on our back patio and look out at the tall trees in our backyard, it feels like I’m in a state park...Inside, our home has a sunlight-filled remodeled kitchen with cherry cabinets and granite countertops. Our family room with a brick wall and fireplace is where we held a wonderful engagement party for my daughter and son-in-law. We’ve had many a Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner in our spacious dining room.”
