Cops: Dutchess gas station robbed at gunpoint

State Police are looking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a northern Dutchess County gas station late Friday night.

The suspect walked into the Cobble Road Sunoco gas station minimart, at 5886 Route 82, about 10:50 p.m. and brandished a handgun, police said. The gas station is in Stanford, a town northeast of Poughkeepsie and west of Amenia.

Police didn't say how much money the robber got away with, and didn't offer details about the sequence of events once the man walked into the station's minimart. It wasn't clear if there were customers in the store at the time.

The robber was described as a white or Hispanic man, about 5 feet, five inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing all black, including a black ski mask.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-677-7300. All calls will be kept confidential.
