The Catholic League is urging the NFL to drop plans to ask Madonna to perform for Super Bowl halftime, according to the league's website.

The league, which is based in Manhattan, says that Madonna has "blatantly" been offensive to Christians.

In its plea, the league cites the NFL's having rescinded its halftime show invite to 'N Sync's JC Chasez in 2004.

"Chasez may be known for dicey lyrics, but he is chopped meat compared to Madonna," added the statement from the website.
