“Scream Queens” star Abigail Breslin, who earned a supporting actress Oscar nomination at age 10 for “Little Miss Sunshine,” has revealed she has been sexually assaulted.

“I knew my assailant,” the New York City-born actress, who turns 21 on Friday, posted on social media with the hashtags #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth and #breakthesilence. Her message accompanied an Instagram photo of a typed poem titled “consent II.,” reading “you are not obligated / to have sex with someone / that you’re in a relationship with / dating is not consent / marriage is not consent.”

Breslin gave no further details, but responded to an Instagram commenter who wrote of having been assaulted on two occasions, and knowing both of her assailants.

“So terrible and I can’t say sorry enough even tho I know it doesn’t take the pain away. You are not alone,” Breslin replied.

In response to a tweet from “Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland, who wrote, “Proud of you Abs,” Breslin wrote “love u so much.”

Debra Messing, who plays the mother of Baby Houseman, Breslin’s character in ABC’s upcoming remake of the film “Dirty Dancing,” also offered words of support to her co-star in a tweet.

Breslin also thanked other well-wishers on Twitter, writing, “so beyond thankful by the immense support regarding my IG post last night. I am so lucky to have all of you kind souls in my corner.”

The younger sister of actor Spencer Breslin, Abigail plays college sorority girl Chanel No. 5 in Fox’s “Scream Queens,” a comedic horror series also starring Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd and Jamie Lee Curtis. Breslin’s films include “Zombieland” (2009), “August: Osage County” (2013), and “Ender’s Game” (2013). ABC’s “Dirty Dancing” remake is set to air May 24.
