Al Pacino will return to Broadway next October in the new David Mamet play "China Doll," the show's producers announced Thursday. The Oscar- and Tony-winning actor last appeared on Broadway in the 2012 revival of Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross." In a statement, Mamet said he wrote "China Doll" for Pacino, who will star as billionaire Mickey Ross. On the cusp of semiretirement, Ross buys an airplane as a wedding present for his young fiancee. Pacino also released a statement saying that he and Mamet have done four projects together "and the opportunity to create a new character in the David Mamet canon was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."
