Rockville Centre-reared comedy star Amy Schumer says she and her boyfriend of several months, Chicago furniture designer Ben Hanisch, are enjoying a promising romance.
“We’re in love,” Schumer says in a cover-story interview, posted online Thursday, in the new issue of Vogue. “And we’re still in total honeymoon phase. It’s a real relationship. Who knows what will happen, but we’re real good right now.”
Past boyfriends for the 35-year-old star of the comedy hit “Trainwreck” and Comedy Central’s sketch show “Inside Amy Schumer,” have included comedian Anthony Jeselnik and WWE pro-wrestling star Dolph Ziggler.
Schumer, who has a memoir due out next month, explained that, “I grew up comedy crazy. And none of my girlfriends were, so I gravitated toward certain boys. We all loved the Jerky Boys and making prank phone calls and ‘SNL’. It was the same thing with hip-hop. I loved rap because of the economy of language and those fast insults, playing off each other.”
Schumer also wrote a comedy-sketch video for Vogue in which she and editor-in-chief Anna Wintour switch jobs for a day, using the classic sitcom trope of two characters each believing the other has the easier job. Schumer discovers that all clothes look the same to her, recognizing only “shirt” and “skirts,” while Wintour, conversely, kills it in a set at the Comedy Cellar. “That’s my time, but remember: Wintour is coming,” she says, and then drops the mic like a pro.
