Comedy star Amy Schumer has married chef Chris Fischer.
Us Weekly first reported Thursday that the Rockville Centre-raised Schumer, 36, had wed Fischer Tuesday in Malibu, California. Within two hours, the comedian posted a series of eight Instagram photos of of the wedding, beginning with one of herself in a spaghetti-strap wedding gown and Fischer in a dark suit and tie, holding hands. “Yup,” she wrote simply.
An additional photo shows an outdoor, seaside ceremony, with two small dogs in the wedding party and, as officiant, what TheBlast.com identified as “Search Party” star John Early in his standup-comedy persona Vicky. In another photo, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence kisses the bride on the head. In another, the groom appears to break a glass with his foot, as is traditional in Jewish marriage ceremonies.
In a follow-up Instagram post, Schumer wrote, “No gifts but consider a donation to @everytown,” a national organization lobbying for gun safety. In a graphical-text image, she additionally wrote. “2 things. No I’m not pregnant. And no gifts but thank you for asking. Instead please consider [a] donation to everytown for gun safety. Thought of Mayce and Jillian a lot yesterday and sending love to everyone who has been affected by gun violence.” Mayci Breaux, 21, and Jillian Johnson, 33, were shot to death in July 2015 at a Lafayette, Louisiana, movie theater screening Schumer’s comedy hit “Trainwreck.” Schumer has since become an advocate for gun safety.
Also attending the wedding were Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Larry David, Jake Gyllenhaal and David Spade, according to TheBlast and People magazine. Us said the couple had been dating only since November.
Fischer won a 2016 James Beard Award for “Beetlebung Farm Cookbook: A Year of Cooking on Martha’s Vineyard.” He became known in culinary circles as the sous chef at Mario Batali’s restaurant Babbo in Manhattan. He does not appear to be on social media, and the Beetlebung Farm Facebook page made no mention of the wedding.
Schumer and Fischer were first photographed together at the Manhattan restaurant Café Altro Paradiso on Nov. 7, sharing a candlelit dinner. Then on Jan. 14, the comic posted an Instagram photo of herself and Fischer, writing, “My honey,” using a pot-of-honey emoji. On Sunday, Schumer posted a black-and-white photo of herself and Fischer kissing, writing, “Happy Birthday @theellenshow thank you for having us!,” a reference to a party for talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres’ 60th birthday.
On May 16, Schumer and Chicago furniture designer Ben Hanisch announced they had ended their more than 16-month relationship. Previous boyfriends of whom Schumer has spoken include comedian Anthony Jeselnik and WWE wrestler Dolph Ziggler.
