The British tabloid Daily Star has removed from its website an article that claimed pop singer Ariana Grande had behaved arrogantly backstage at Friday's Stand Up to Cancer telethon.

The move followed a stinging rebuttal by the worldwide telecast's executive producer and director, Joel Gallen, who told E! News, "The U.K. Daily Star's story on Ariana Grande is completely false," saying, "Ariana was wonderful to work with, very gracious and a consummate professional to our team and everyone at the Stand Up to Cancer telecast."

He added, "Her moving performance of 'My Everything,' which she sang in honor of her grandfather who passed away from cancer, was one of the most emotional moments of the night. We were honored to have her join us."

The tabloid's story had claimed Grande, 21, was "consistently late," "demanded to be shot only on her left side" and "shouted at crew members for staring at her." An anonymous source told the paper Grande had been a "total nightmare" and asserted, "We've been on set with Lady Gaga, Madonna and Mariah [Carey], but combined they aren't as rude as she was."

Grande's grandfather, Frank Grande, died of cancer on July 22. "We did lose my favorite person to ever exist yesterday, my grandpa," she tweeted at the time. "If only y'all knew how amazing he was. My [heart] hurts so much . . . This is the hardest thing imaginable but I'm so grateful that I got to spend time with him & my family."

After her performance Friday, Grande tweeted to the Stand Up to Cancer organizers, "Thank u for having me & for the work u do," and added later "[I] sobbed my eyes out as soon as I got back. idk how he was just here & now he's not & I'm singing a song in his honor . . ."
