Have pop star Beyoncé and her music-mogul husband, rapper and producer Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, welcomed their anticipated twins?
Despite a plethora of reports Sunday that the superstar singer, 35, had given birth, no official confirmation was forthcoming. However, Beyoncé’s father and former manager, music-label head Matthew Knowles, tweeted that day, “They’re here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday,” accompanied by a colorful graphic of balloons with the message “Happy Birthday to the twins! Love, Granddad.”
The singer’s mother, Tina Lawson, who is divorced from Knowles, has not commented on social media except for the possibility of an Instagram post Sunday that began, “In New York for my friends son’s wedding!” and concluded vaguely, “God lets things happen in his time not ours! Dont try to rush him!”
Some reports have suggested the babies were born as far back as one week ago.
Beyoncé has not commented on social media. The most recent post on her verified Facebook page was on Thursday, announcing the winners of her recently established Formation Scholars Award merit scholarship.
Neither Jay Z nor Beyoncé’s sister, singer Solange Knowles, has commented online. The Associated Press said representatives for Beyoncé and Jay Z did not respond to requests for comment.
The couple — who married in April 2008 and have a daughter, Blue Ivy, 5 — had announced on Feb. 1 that they were expecting and that they were having twins.
“We would like to share our love and happiness,” 22-time Grammy Award-winner Beyoncé had posted on Instagram, accompanying a portrait photo of herself visibly pregnant, kneeling discreetly in bra and panties and draped by a green veil. An immense wreath of flowers looms behind her. “We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters,” she signed off.
