While in Canada on Friday, the couple headed to D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre in Winnipeg and spent hours in the shelter picking out the right pooch.
They ended up with a 10-week-old husky mix they named Baylor. The dog was adopted in 19-year-old Gomez's name.
"I wasn't expecting her to adopt a dog while she was on tour and has a busy schedule," D'Arcy Johnston, chief executive of the shelter, told People.
But Gomez is known to rescue pups; the singer owns five rescue dogs.
"They spent a lot of time with the puppies," Johnston told People. "I was told that [Gomez] was missing the dogs that she has at home."
And it seems Gomez and Baylor are getting along well. Early Tuesday morning, she tweeted a picture of her sleeping next to her new puppy.
