“Black-ish” star Yara Shahidi, who plays eldest child Zoey on the ABC sitcom, says she will be attending Harvard.
Tuesday on Instagram, she posted an image of herself in a Harvard hoodie, quoting James Baldwin in a caption: “The paradox of education is precisely this — that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated,” ending it with the hashtag #CrimsonPride.
The 17-year-old actress did not detail her schedule or how this would affect the show, but told Seventeen magazine in April that since her character was also college-age, filming on “a college campus and having Zoey experience life as an independent” young woman was a possibility.
Shahidi also told the magazine she had been accepted into each college to which she had applied. Former first lady Michelle Obama, a Harvard Law School alumna, wrote her a recommendation letter.
