Opening up publicly about his breakup with ex-wife Katy Perry, actor-comedian Russell Brand said he still loves and respects her, and wishes her well.
"I still love her as a human being," he said Thursday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "But sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her."
Brand, 36 -- who filed for divorce on Dec. 30 from "Part of Me" singer Perry after a 14-month marriage -- was philosophical about the split, saying, "You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life, eh? Sometimes things are just different and then you have to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and with each other. Y'know, with any situation."
Last week, Brand unfollowed Perry, 27, on Twitter. She had unfollowed Brand shortly after the divorce filing.
Brand -- who will host the MTV Movie Awards on June 3 -- has been seen with a series of women since the separation. Perry was spotted being romantic with Florence + The Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd at the Coachella Festival last month, said Us Weekly.
Perry and Brand married in October 2010 in an elaborate Indian wedding at the Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan.
