Bristol Palin and decorated Marine Dakota Meyer have belatedly married after calling off their engagement a year ago.
Palin is the daughter of former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
On Wednesday, the new bride, 25, and Meyer, 27, who have a child together, confirmed speculation that began the day before when a Facebook photo he posted showed Palin with apparent engagement and wedding rings. “Life is full of ups and downs but in the end, you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be,” Palin and Meyer told “Entertainment Tonight.” “We are so happy to share with loved ones the wonderful news that we got married!”
They added, “Hard work and God’s grace are the foundation of our new life together, and with the love and support of our family we know we can get through anything.”
The two gave no date for the nuptials.
The couple had initially had planned to marry on May 23, 2015, but called off the wedding five days before. Their daughter, Sailor Grace, was born that Dec. 23. Palin also has a 7-year-old son, Tripp Johnston, with former boyfriend Levi Johnston.
