"Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World" franchise star Chris Pratt and author and lifestyle blogger Katherine Schwarzenegger are engaged.
"Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I'm thrilled to be marrying you," Pratt, 39, posted on social media with a close-up photo of the two embracing, Schwarzenegger's hand displaying an engagement ring. "Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!"
On his Facebook page he added, "Ideally we'd have kept this secret for as long as possible. But considering there's paparazzi camped out in the alley behind our house and they document everything whether we like it or not, we'll take the lead here and release this statement."
Schwarzenegger, 29, posted on her social media the same image as Pratt with the caption: “My sweet love. Wouldn't want to live this life with anyone but you.” She is the eldest of four children of author and journalist Maria Shriver and actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, and is a grandniece of late President John F. Kennedy.
The couple had been together publicly since at least June, when they were seen sharing picnic food and smiling and laughing on a park bench in Santa Barbara, California. On her birthday on Dec. 13, Pratt posted an Instagram message with a nickname endearment, writing, "Happy Birthday Chief! Your smile lights up the room. I've cherished our time together. Thrilled God put you in my life. Thankful for the laughs, kisses, talks, hikes, love and care."
This would be Schwarzenegger's first marriage and Pratt's second. The actor previously was wed to "Mom" star Anna Faris, whom he married in a small ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, on July 9, 2009. They announced on Aug. 6, 2017, that they were separating. Pratt filed for divorce that Dec. 1. The former couple have 6-year-old son Jack, who was born nine weeks premature in 2012.
Faris, who is in a relationship with cinematographer Michael Barrett, wrote on Pratt's Instagram post announcing the engagement: "I'm so happy for you both!! Congratulations!"
