R&B singer Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson married Wednesday in a highly private ceremony in Cheshire, England.
E! News said the couple, whose impending nuptials have been the subject of speculation for days, were wed before close friends and family at Peckforton Castle. The bride wore a custom gown by Roberto Cavalli, designed by that label’s creative director, Peter Dundas, according to E!. TMZ.com added that the approximately 100 guests were asked to hand over their cellphones so that there would be no photos or social-media posts from the ceremony.
But hours later both Ciara and Wilson posted the same image on their Instagram accounts of the newlywed couple walking down the aisle after their wedding ceremony with the caption “We are The Wilsons!”
Photos had surfaced Tuesday of Ciara, 30, and Wilson, 27, walking hand-in-hand in formal wedding attire at what People magazine identified as Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel, where the rehearsal dinner was being held. Wilson that day tweeted without specification, “Overflow of Blessings! God is so good!”
The couple became engaged in March after first appearing publicly together at a White House state dinner on April 26, 2015. Grammy Award winner Ciara previously became engaged to rapper Future in October 2013, and the two had a son the following May, but ended their relationship that August. They soon were locked in a lengthy custody battle, and on Jan. 21 of this year, Ciara filed a $15 million lawsuit against Future claiming defamation, slander and libel over disparaging tweets he had posted.
