Lindsay Lohan’s mom isn’t shedding any tears about her famous daughter’s engagement coming to an end.
At Zarin Fabrics’ 80th anniversary bash in New York on Thursday, Dina Lohan told E! News that she was glad when the “Mean Girls” star broke up with her fiance, Egor Tarabasov, over the summer.
“In this instance, very happy. I can sleep at night,” Dina Lohan said. “He was just very young, and it just wasn’t working out. It got to the point where it was abusive. And I’m a victim of domestic abuse, and it’s hard. . . . I never thought in a million years my daughter would have to experience that, but she did, and fortunately she’s out and happy and done with it. I wish him well and I hope he gets help because he was a nice man.”
In an interview with Russian TV station Channel One in September, the Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor-raised actress detailed events of the couple’s stormy relationship, which lasted nine months. She claimed that she feared for her life after Tarabasov broke into her home and tried to strangle her. She added that she jumped out to the balcony and cried for someone to call the police.
Lohan also told the Daily Mail in August: “I realize now you can’t stay in a relationship just for love,” adding, “No woman can be hit and stay with that person if that person isn’t prepared to say sorry.”
