This letter handwritten and signed by Paul McCartney on Aug. 12, 1960, invites an unknown drummer to audition for the Beatles and says the drummer must be available for a two-month trip to Hamburg, Germany. Christie's estimates it could fetch up to $14,000 when it is auctioned in London on Tuesday, according to the International Business Times. The band included John Lennon and George Harrison at the time, with Ringo Starr joining two years later. McCartney, then 18, was writing in response to a notice in his hometown paper, the Liverpool Echo. No word on whether the drummer actually auditioned. Pete Best was the band's drummer before Ringo.
