“Game of Thrones” stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie reportedly are engaged.
People magazine, citing an anonymous source, said Tuesday that English actor Harington, who plays Jon Snow on the hit HBO fantasy series, and the Aberdeen-born Leslie, who played Ygritte, had become betrothed at an unspecified time and place. Representatives for the two stars — whose characters on the show were romantically involved until Ygritte’s death — did not respond to People’s request for comment.
Harington and Leslie, both 30, had dodged relationship rumors for more than three years before confirming in April 2016 that they were a couple. “I fell in love in Iceland,” where some of “Game of Thrones” is filmed, Harington said that month on the U.K.’s “The Jonathan Ross Show.” “I fell in love with my co-star” Leslie, he explained.
The following night, the two made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the London theater world’s 40th Olivier Awards, held at the Royal Opera House.
Relationship rumors arose in 2012, but the romance appeared to be on-and-off. In January 2016, photos appeared of Harington and Leslie behaving romantically during a Los Angeles shopping trip, prompting fellow “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke to tell “Entertainment Tonight,” “You know, we like to spread the love on our show. It’s a beautiful thing. She’s one of my best friends, so it’s good. . . . I mean, there’s worse things than being caught kissing Jon Snow!”
