Film star Gwyneth Paltrow says she sometimes speculates about her decision to "consciously uncouple" from her husband, Grammy-winning Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
"Of course, there are times when I think it would have been better if we had stayed married, which is always what your children want," Paltrow, 42, says in the new issue of the British edition of Harper's Bazaar. "But we have been able to solidify this friendship, so that we're really close."
The two have a daughter, Apple, 10, and a son, Moses, 8. Martin, 37, lives across the street from Paltrow in Los Angeles. The Oscar-winning actress first announced the couple's split after more than 10 years of marriage on her lifestyle website, Goop, on March 25.
"It's painful, it's difficult, it might be easier to say, 'I never want to see you again,' but what good does that do anyone?" she told the magazine. "We've made a lot of mistakes, and we've had good days and bad days, but I have to say, I'm proud of us for working through so much stuff together -- and not blaming and shaming."
