Actor Jim Carrey is being sued by ex-girlfriend Cathriona White’s mother, Brigid Sweetman, for wrongful death, according to TMZ and other sources.

The site first reported that Sweetman filed a lawsuit against the “Ace Ventura” star claiming White overdosed on drugs upon learning that Carrey had given her three STDs and then dumped her.

Other allegations in the suit, which was filed in Los Angeles, are that Carrey reportedly called White a “whore” and tried to silence her. The suit also claims that in 2013, White found out that she had contracted herpes and chlamydia.

The actor’s lawyer Martin D. Singer offered the following statement to People magazine in response to the suit: “It is understandable that a mother who has lost a daughter will look for someone to blame. But in directing her grief and rage at Jim Carrey and joining this ridiculous lawyer’s attempt to capitalize on Cathriona’s suicide, Mrs. Sweetman is heading down the same dark path as Cathriona’s green-card ‘husband,’ Mark Burton.”

White’s estranged husband Mark Burton also filed a wrongful-death suit against Carrey in September. Attorney Michael Avenatti is representing both Burton and Sweetman.
