Comedian Jimmy Kimmel, recently named this year’s Oscars host, is expecting his second child with wife Molly McNearney.
“My wife is hosting a baby inside her body, so that’s exciting,” Kimmel, 49, said Monday on his late-night talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“We got the ultrasound, which is weird because you’re already spying on the baby. But we asked the technician not to tell us whether we’re having a boy or a girl,” he said, adding jokingly, “Our plan is to let the child decide for itself. We want that to be a surprise, but I have been trying to think of names that would work for a boy or girl. So far, all I’ve come up with is . . . Dyson, after the vacuum, or Jelatin with a ‘J.’ No? That’s exactly what my wife said.”
Kimmel and McNearney, co-head writer of his ABC show, have a 2-year-old daughter, Jane. The couple began a relationship in 2009, following Kimmel’s breakup with comedian Sarah Silverman. Kimmel proposed to McNearney in summer 2012 while they were vacationing in South Africa’s Kruger National Forest. They married the following July.
Kimmel and his first wife, Gina Maddy, to whom he was married from 1988 to 2002, have two adult children, Katie and Kevin.
