Model Gigi Hadid and singer-actor Joe Jonas reportedly have broken up after five months together.
People magazine said Wednesday that the two, who began their relationship quietly and made their red-carpet debut only a month ago at the Global Lyme Alliance inaugural gala in Manhattan, ended the relationship amicably because of work schedules. As recently as Oct. 29, Jonas tweeted congratulations to her after she was chosen to walk the 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show as one of the brand's Angels.
Hadid, 20, first met Jonas, 26 "when I was 13 years old," she said in an online Q&A in September. "And he asked me to a baseball game, and I said, 'No.'" She explained, "It was literally because I was so nervous. I didn't even know what it meant to hang out with a boy . . . so I was just like, 'No, maybe next time.' . . . And then we've been friends ever since. Until now. We're more than friends. Obvs."
Following their appearance at the gala, the two went on to a high-profile double date on Oct. 9 with Hadid's sister, Bella, and her boyfriend, singer The Weeknd, plus the girls' mother, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Yolanda Foster. Later that month, Hadid co-directed the music video for "Cake by the Ocean," by Jonas' band DNCE.
Its concept, a cake-fight championship, "was her idea . . . and we were like . . . you should do the video, and she just ran with it," Jonas, 26, told People magazine shortly afterward adding, "Everybody really looked up to her to lead and she really came through and showed us that she could do it."
