A medical emergency has forced singer-songwriter John Mayer to postpone at least one concert appearance.
“Early this morning [Tuesday], John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company Dec. 5 concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” his spokeswoman said in a statement to Newsday.
The Grammy Award winner, 40, has been touring with the band, which includes members of the original Grateful Dead. Tickets for the show at the city’s Smoothie King Center will be honored at a rescheduled date. Dead & Company shows remain scheduled Thursday and Friday in Florida, and Mayer remains set for the annual “Alice in Winterland” concert Dec. 12 in San Francisco, and for “Controlled Danger,” a comedy-music hybrid show with Mayer and Dave Chappelle in California Dec. 30-31.
