Film star Johnny Depp, undergoing a bitter divorce from actress Amber Heard, has covered over a tattoo of her and changed the wording of another tattoo from “SLIM,” an endearment for her, to an insulting term.
TMZ.com over the weekend ran before and after photos of Depp’s right biceps, which formerly displayed a coquettish portrait of Heard in a striped one-piece bathing suit, and of his right hand, with the letters S, L, I and M above the knuckles of each finger. The portrait was changed to a large, scratchy black rectangle.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise star, 53, sported the altered tattoos during a Friday performance with his band, The Hollywood Vampires, at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, according to Us Weekly.
Depp famously altered another tattoo after breaking up with his 1990s fiancee, actress Winona Ryder, changing “Winona Forever” to “Wino Forever.”
Heard, 30, who plays Aquaman’s love interest Mera in 2017’s DC Comics movie “The Justice League Part One,” filed for divorce from Depp on May 23, three days after the actor’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, died at age 81, following a long illness. Heard’s petition alleged among other claims that Depp hit her in the face with his iPhone two days before she filed for divorce.
The couple, who met while filming the 2011 movie “The Rum Diary” and later began dating, married on Feb. 3, 2015. They have no children. Depp previously was in a 14-year relationship with French singer-actress Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his two children, daughter Lily-Rose, 17, and son Jack, 14. In June 2012, Paradis and Depp announced they had broken up.
He was married to makeup artist Lori Anne Allison from 1983 to 1985, and successively engaged to actresses Jennifer Grey, Sherilyn Fenn and Ryder. In 1994 he began a tempestuous four-year relationship with model Kate Moss.
