Johnny Depp, currently filming "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" in Australia, was scheduled to fly back to the United States for surgery after injuring his hand over the weekend.

TheWrap.com reported that the 51-year-old star of Disney's supernatural-adventure buccaneer franchise was not on set when the injury occurred.

A Disney representative confirmed Depp had been hurt, but said the movie remains scheduled for a July 7, 2017, release.
