Kate Hudson and her boyfriend, musician Danny Fujikawa, welcomed a daughter named Rani Rose Hudson-Fujikawa on Tuesday, according to People magazine.

Hudson and Fujikawa announced the news on Instagram, where they explained the inspiration behind the baby's name. "We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie), after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa," Hudson wrote. "Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor."

The 39-year-old actress added, "Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back."

Their daughter's arrival comes over a year after the two started dating, E! Online reports. The two have been friends for more than a decade after being introduced to one another by Hudson's best friends, Sara and Erin Foster, who are Danny Fujikawa's stepsisters.

Hudson has two other children, Ryder Robinson, 14, and Bingham Bellamy, 6, from previous relationships.
