Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx braved gentle ribbing by Clive Davis Saturday at the music mogul’s annual Pre-Grammy Awards Gala in Manhattan, as the host chided them about their reported yearslong romance.
While “Logan Lucky” star Holmes, 39, and Academy Award-winner Foxx, 50, were much-photographed sitting beside each other at the same table, Holmes left at one point in an evident effort to avoid attention. When she returned, Davis, 85, announced, “This lady left the room right when I was going to introduce her; she was sitting at that table right with Jamie Foxx and everyone else,” People magazine quoted him saying. “If you’re going to sit together what better night than tonight?” he added lightheartedly.
Foxx, in a dark tuxedo, laughed at the comment, said People, while Holmes, who wore a red scoop-necked dress, appeared chagrined. The two nonetheless are laughing and smiling in numerous photos, including one in Us Weekly as they greet fashion designer Zac Posen.
Former “Dawson’s Creek” star Holmes and “Beat Shazam” host Foxx have never formally announced a relationship. They first were seen together at the fourth annual Apollo in the Hamptons benefit on Aug. 24, 2013, at the East Hampton mansion of Apollo Theater board member Ron Perelman. In March 2015, Us Weekly ran a photo of the two holding hands the month before in what later reports called a home recording studio. This past September, TMZ.com and the website of the U.K. newspaper Daily Mail each ran dozens of photos of the two on Labor Day strolling hand-in-hand along the beach in Malibu, California, and relaxing on the patio of a beachfront home.
The two reportedly attended a party at the Paramount Pictures studio lot in Hollywood on Dec. 13, in honor of Foxx’s 50th birthday that day, with People magazine citing an eyewitness to the two arriving together.
Holmes’ 2006 marriage to film star Tom Cruise, with whom she has daughter Suri, 11, ended in August 2012. Foxx, who won a Best Actor Academy Award for 2004’s “Ray,” also earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination starring opposite Cruise in 2004’s “Collateral.” He has daughter Corinne Foxx, who is in her early 20s, and Annalise Bishop, 8, from previous relationships.
