Serial prankster Vitalii Sediuk has taken credit as the person who lunged at Kim Kardashian Thursday when the reality-TV star arrived at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, where she was attending the Balmain show at Paris Fashion Week.
Video of the incident shows Kardashian, 33, exiting the backseat of her car amid a sea of photographers and others. With bodyguards around her, she's suddenly jostled and her mother, Kris Jenner, stepping out from the right front seat, screams at someone, "Stop that!" One guard with a shaved head wraps an arm around Kardashian and pulls her away as she kicks at the unseen assailant. The attacker appears to be on the ground, where, according to Fox News, both security guards and paparazzi held him down.
Sediuk's representative told Fox News Sediuk was not arrested at the scene.
Kardashian's husband, rapper Kanye West, 37, had exited from the other side of the car. As the video ends, he is in the throng of people near Kardashian, headed for the building's main doors.
A representative for Ukranian former journalist Sediuk, who has similarly lunged at Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and other celebrities at red-carpet events, told TheWrap.com and other outlets that his client was the culprit. Sediuk was fired by his television network, Ukraine's 1+1, after accosting Pitt on May 28 at the "Maleficent" premiere in Los Angeles, said Us Weekly.
After his arrest in May, Sediuk pleaded no contest to counts of assault and battery, said TheWrap. He was scheduled to return to court in Los Angeles in September for further court-ordered obligations, the site added, but Sediuk has claimed he was placed on a no-fly list and is unable to return to the United States.
