9 things to know about the Kardashians' summer in The Hamptons

Southampton, the Kardashians are here -- at least a couple of them. Sisters Kourtney, 35, and Khloé, 29, set up shop (literally) in The Hamptons on Monday, June 2, and have reportedly rented a $14 million mansion in nearby North Sea. A pop-up version of their DASH boutique is now open on Jobs Lane, and will be the site for filming parts of their new reality show, "Kourtney & Khloé Take The Hamptons," a spin-off of their long-running E! series, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." They're far from the first famous faces to summer out east, but naturally they've already drawn attention in the tourist town. Here are nine things to know about their store, their show and their summer home in The Hamptons.

1. The new DASH pop-up shop is tiny.

At least compared to the longstanding DASH stores in Los Angeles, Miami and Manhattan. The brand-new Southampton shop is approximately 600 square feet -- about one-third the size of the SoHo store. It will be open through late September.

2. Production is underway on their new reality show.

"Kourtney & Khloé Take The Hamptons" filmed at the new DASH store during its opening days, says manager Monica Navia. Corinne Rueb, manager at The Driver's Seat restaurant next door, says she spotted the two sisters going into the store on Wednesday, June 4, and says they stayed only about 30 minutes. The day before, Kourtney & Khloé stopped into Stevenson's toy store across the street, say employees at Jobs Lane Deli, which is next door to DASH.

3. The Kardashians' landlord didn't know who they were at first.

Irma Herzog, who owns several businesses on Jobs Lane and is renting the DASH space to the Kardashians for the summer, didn't recognize them as the first family of reality TV. "She just knew she was renting to famous people," says Rueb, who's worked for her at The Driver's Seat (which Herzog also owns) for 14 years. "Her kids had to tell her who they were." That's why the landlady was taken aback by the negative criticism she faced from some Southampton locals when they found out in mid-May that the Kardashians had signed a lease with her, Rueb says.

4. But most of their Jobs Lane neighbors have been welcoming.

Contrary to many reports, not everyone in Southampton is up-in-arms over "Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons." Since DASH opened at 64 Jobs Lane, fellow business owners have sent flowers and dropped in to welcome their new neighbors. Mayor Mark Epley toured the store on opening day, Navia says. Rueb says every business owner she has talked to is happy to have the uptick in foot traffic. "It was a hard winter, and Southampton was very quiet, so now we're happy to have this buzz," Rueb said, adding that the restaurant has seen a number of people stop in to eat at after shopping next door.

5. They've already shopped and dined all over the east end.

On Tuesday, June 4, their first day in The Hamptons, Kourtney and Khloé were also spotted eating lunch at Zach Erdem's 75 Main, shopping at Intermix, and visiting Village Hall in Southampton. That night, Kourtney and longtime boyfriend, Scott Disick (an Eastport native) reportedly noshed on teriyaki chicken, miso black cod, vegetable spring rolls and a cooked lobster roll during a two-hour dinner date at at Suki Zuki in Water Mill, according to E!. The next day, Kourtney picked up several sandwiches and cookies at Villa Italian Specialties in East Hampton, while Disick waited in the car, E! also reports.

6. Catching the Kardashians at DASH is hit-or-miss.

"We never know when they're going to be here -- they just pop in when they have time," says retail director Dakota DiSanto.

7. But if you do spot them on the street, they'll probably let you take a selfie.

As fans followed them through Southampton Village on Tuesday, the sisters obliged to several requests for photos. (Because the first rule of being a Kardashian is to never shy away from a selfie, right?)

8. If you're shopping for clothes at DASH, be prepared to drop some major cash.

While the shop carries lip gloss, key chains and rhinestone-studded compacts (even DASH pens) that Kardashian fans and Hamptons tourists can pick up as souvenirs, most of the apparel is for serious shoppers. Various swimsuits (from a skimpy, bondage-style black bikini to a strapless neon two-piece) average upwards of $150, and a sheer, white lace bodysuit (beautiful, not practical) will set you back $116. A vibrant, multicolored cover-up more suited for dinner than the beach just screams "Kourtney" -- and is one of the shop's priciest items, at $518. DASH doesn't sell the sisters' own Kardashian Kollection pieces (that line is a Sears exclusive), but instead carries brands including Wildfox, Camilla and Peace Love World.

9. Kourtney and Khloé have a short commute to work.

Can't beat these digs. The sisters have rented a 9,000-square-foot waterfront mansion in North Sea, about six miles northeast of their downtown store, sources close to the deal say. The five-bedroom, 6½-bathroom house was recently on the market for just under $14 million, and listed with a $295,000 rental cost for the summer. But they might have snagged a (relatively) good deal: E!, which airs "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," reports the sisters are renting the home for about $70,000 a month.
