Former “Rent" star Indina Menzel, who is from Syosset, talked about what it’s like to co-parent with ex-husband Taye Diggs during a 2016 interview with People. “Your child comes first, that’s all,” Menzel said. “It’s all about that. He comes first, and you have to get past your own egos and you never talk bad about each other.” The actors share a 9-year-old son.
Former "Sopranos" star Jamie-Lynn Sigler who was raised in Jericho, recently opened up about how multiple sclerosis has affected her parenting – saying it has required her "to become creative" in order to give her two young sons a full life. "You just have to make — they're not sacrifices but choices. . . . I'm bummed that I'm not the one that can experience it all with him but . . . I don't want him to not have those experiences," she said of hiring a nanny to take her toddler son out to do things she can't do, during a talk on motherhood podcast "Katie's Crib," in March. Sigler revealed three years ago that at age 20 she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa Joan Hart, who hails from Smithtown and currently stars in Netflix’s “No Good Nick,” recently spoke to Insider about parenting. “What works for you won't work for someone else and vice versa, so you have to be careful where you get your advice,” she said. "I think it's always good to ask friends, ask family, ask your mom how they did it and what their tips are, and then take what works for you and leave the rest. Don't try to make someone else's routine fit into yours.” Hart has three sons, born in 2006, 2008 and 2012.
Author and former yoga instructor Hilaria Baldwin, who shares four children with her husband, Massapequa-raised actor Alec Baldwin, revealed in April that she suffered a miscarriage – losing what would have been their fifth child together. “There was no heartbeat today at my scan...so it’s over...but I have some pretty strong and amazing heartbeats right here,” she captioned an Instagram photo of herself, husband and kids. “I hope this conversation continues to grow and that we stick together through both the beautiful and challenging moments in life,” she wrote.
Baldwin has always been very open about raising her family, captioning one photo, “As mothers, we all have those moments that stump us. This was the other night for me....it was messy, emotional, and wild. After all the tears, time outs, and raised voices, we all hugged and kissed before bed" she wrote. "As long as we find love and peace after the rumbling storm of crabbiness and learning, I'll always be reminded that I am a good mommy.”

“Vox Lux” star Natalie Portman who was raised in Jericho, has a son, born in 2011, and a daughter, born in 2017. In a 2013 interview with Britain’s The Telegraph, she said this about parenting: "Everything is cool, there are no rules – I mean, apart from not hurting your kid," she said. "Some people breast-feed until their babies are five, and some don’t breast-feed at all. There are no rules about what it means to be a feminist, or a good mother. For some it’s going to be right to go back to work, for others it’s going to be right to stop working completely.”
