It's hard to believe that Marilyn Monroe would have been 89 on June 1. To mark the occasion, Pop International Galleries in Manhattan presents an exhibit June 17 through July 1 of nearly 60 photos of Monroe shot by seven photographers between 1945 and July 1962.

"It starts when she was really and truly a nobody," says Pop owner Jeff Jaffe. "It's a journey through 17 years of an icon's life."

The exhibit, curated by Andrew Weiss, includes Andres de Dienes' 1946 shots of Monroe at a Long Island beach, Milton Greene's photos from her screen heyday, and the final images shot by George Barris in Santa Monica, California.

Most fascinating, Jaffe says, are never-seen images taken by Kashio Aoki as Monroe and then-husband Joe DiMaggio arrived in Japan. "She and Joe just had a massive fight," he says. "She's looking gorgeous but she can't even look at the camera. There was definitely something going on there. They're very intimate, private photos."

"Marilyn Monroe at Pop!" runs June 17-July 1 at Pop International Galleries, 473 W. Broadway, Manhattan. Free; 212-533-4262, popinternational.com
