Love appears to be lovelier the second time around for Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp. The couple, who had dated for three years, broke up and then rekindled their romance in May, confirmed their engagement on Thursday.
Ryan, 56, announced the news on Instagram by writing :"ENGAGED!" next to a sketch of rocker Mellencamp, 67, and her reaching out for each other's hands. The two had previously dated from 2011 to 2014.
News of the engagement came after the "When Harry Met Sally" star was photographed in New York City on Wednesday wearing an engagement ring. The actress was seen talking on the phone as she headed to a salon.
Ryan was previously married to actor Dennis Quaid from 1991 to 2001. The couple has a son, Jack Quaid, 26. In January 2006, she adopted a 14-month-old girl from China whom she named Daisy True. Mellencamp, whose hit songs include "Jack and Diane," has been married three times and has five children.
