The A List of the A List was out in full force Monday night for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Benefit celebrating the opening of their latest fashion exhibit, "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations."

The exhibit juxtaposes the very modern Italian designer Miuccia Prada with the very dead Elsa Schiaparelli (hence, um, the "impossible" part) -- covering their fashions, lives and views on art.

Topping last year's record-breaking Alexander McQueen exhibit will be tough for the Met, but at least the celebs on the red carpet had it easy. Last year they had to field questions on everything from McQueen's suicide to Osama bin Laden's death, which occurred that same day. This year? Cake.

"I'm just so excited to be here," said supermodel Gisele Bündchen, as she pulled a mute Tom Brady alongside her.

"This is THE event of the year," echoed Tommy Hilfiger.

The ladies pulled out all the stops -- Ralph Lauren dreamed up a dramatic number for Camilla Belle, Emilio Pucci provide some slink for Renée Zellweger and Valentino dolled Sarah Jessica Parker (in a silk taffeta floral print that looked a bit like a nightie).

As for the famed Schiaparelli pink? There was some, but we liked model Coco Rochas best -- with a vintage Givenchy pants outfit, and hot pink extensions. Miuccia and Schiap would surely approve.
