Nick Gordon, the boyfriend of Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown when Brown died under suspicious circumstances in 2015, has been arrested in Florida on a domestic violence charge.
The arrest occurred Saturday in Seminole County, Florida, according to reports Sunday. “Entertainment Tonight,” which reported that the arrest had occurred in Seminole, Florida, which is in Pinellas County, said that according to the police report, Gordon’s girlfriend, Laura Leal, said she was driving Gordon home from a bar when he struck her repeatedly on the right side of her cheek and pulled her hair. Leal told police Gordon told her he should make her wreck the vehicle.
The arresting officer’s report said Gordon denied hitting Leal and that he had wanted her to leave his residence. “I didn’t hit her. She attacked me and ripped my shirt,” Gordon, 29, told police in a statement, the entertainment-news program said. “She also threw a bottle at me. I just want her to leave my house.”
The officer observed Leal had injuries including a swollen bottom lip with dried blood, “E.T.” added. Though Leal, who refused medical attention, did not press charges, Gordon was arrested for what Rolling Stone magazine gave as one count of “battery — touch or strike.” He posted a $500 bond and is scheduled for an April 6 court appearance.
Gordon had been arrested on domestic battery and false imprisonment charges in June at his home in Sanford, Florida, in Seminole County, in a case involving his then-girlfriend. Prosecutors dropped charges after the girlfriend gave conflicting accounts and proved uncooperative. Gordon in the meantime had completed anger management and alcohol- and substance-abuse courses, the Orlando Sentinel said.
