After Nick Gordon, boyfriend of comatose music scion Bobbi Kristina Brown, reportedly checked himself into rehab Friday, Brown's aunt stated that Gordon is the subject of a criminal investigation.

Leolah Brown, sister of Bobbi Kristina's father, singer Bobby Brown, posted an open letter to TV psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw on Saturday, shortly after McGraw had helped stage an intervention with Gordon to air on the syndicated "Dr. Phil" show Wednesday. "With all due respect," she wrote on Facebook Saturday, "Nick Gordon is under investigation for the attempted murder of my niece Bobby [sic] Kristina Brown. We have strong evidence of foul play. Until this investigation is completed by law enforcement, I would ask that you or anyone else not provide this individual a platform to spin this situation to his benefit."

She added, "If Nick Gordon does not have the courage to speak with my brother Bobby Brown and/or law enforcement about what happened the day my niece's body was found in a bathtub, he does not deserve to have a platform to speak to anyone of your caliber until this investigation is concluded."

A police spokeswoman in suburban-Atlanta-area Roswell, Georgia, where Bobbi Kristina Brown lives, said earlier this month that the Jan. 31 incident in which Brown was found unresponsive "has always been under criminal investigation," as opposed to an accident investigation. Without confirming whether Gordon is a suspect, Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant told People magazine that investigators are "going to follow the evidence and see where it leads us."

Accusations and bad blood have been flying on social media between Gordon and the family of Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, whose mother is the late pop star Whitney Houston. Bobby Brown's attorney last month claimed Gordon was not cooperating with the police investigation, a charge Gordon denied.

Bobbi Kristina Brown has been in a medically induced coma, except for one brief attempt at revival, since having been found unresponsive in her town house by Gordon and a friend on Jan. 31. After being taken initially to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, she later was moved to Atlanta's Emory University Hospital, where her prognosis has remained dire.
