England's newlywed Prince William and Kate Middleton are poised to meet Hollywood royalty this weekend, as well as tour an inner-city school and take part in a celebrity polo match as they begin a whirlwind visit to Los Angeles Friday.
Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Kristin Chenoweth, Dana Delany, Ginnifer Goodwin and "Dancing With the Stars" dancer Derek Hough will be on hand, said E! News, to rub elbows with the couple at the inaugural Brits to Watch gala Saturday, hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Jack Black may also attend, E! said.
The new duke and duchess of Cambridge will begin their weekend at a Beverly Hilton reception for the British government agency UK Trade & Investment. Afterward, they will be guests of honor at a reception at the home of the British consul general, where the couple is staying.
Saturday, William is scheduled to play a match at the Santa Barbara Polo Club to benefit the philanthropic organization American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry. That evening, the royal couple will attend the BAFTA gala at the Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Sunday sees them visiting the Inner-City Arts School, followed by the Service Nation: Mission Serve job fair for veterans, at Sony Studios in Culver City.
