R&B singer Toni Braxton is engaged, reportedly to rapper and record-label chief Bryan “Birdman” Williams.
“I have an announcement to make,” Braxton, 50, says at the start of a promotional clip for the upcoming sixth season of the WE reality show “Braxton Family Values.” As the camera cuts to a close-up of a large engagement ring, Braxton informs her sisters and co-stars, “I’m engaged!” She has been wearing what appears to be the same or a highly similar ring recently in public.
The 30-second promotional clip for next month’s season premiere makes no mention of Cash Money Records co-CEO Williams, who turned 49 on Thursday, but the two have been a couple for some time, according to Braxton’s singer sister Tamar.
In September, Tamar Braxton said to daytime-talk show host Wendy Williams (no relation to Bryan) of Toni and her beau, “I think that’s my brother-in-law, I do. I think they eloped. ’Cause he was there in the way like a brother-in-law” would be when the siblings’ mother recently had heart surgery followed by a stroke.
Toni Braxton responded to the assertion on “Good Morning America” on Jan. 25, telling Robin Roberts of Bryan Williams, “Well, I am not married, unlike my big-mouth sister Tamar has been saying everywhere. I’m definitely not married yet.”
Neither Williams nor seven-time Grammy Award-winner Toni Braxton have commented publicly on the promo clip’s announcement. Braxton and R&B musician Keri Lewis were married in 1998, but separated in 2009 and divorced in 2013. They have two children, teens Denim and Diezel.
Despite being diagnosed with the chronic autoimmune disorder lupus that caused her to postpone or cancel some concert dates in 2016 and early 2017, Braxton plans to embark on a North American tour in support of her album “Sex and Cigarettes,” scheduled to drop March 23.
