It might turn out to be a magic year for “Magic Mike” star Channing Tatum who, rumor has it, might be People magazine's choice for 2012 “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Gossip Cop has reported that Tatum is this year's winner, though People magazine has yet to make an announcement. The magazine will do the big reveal Wednesday.

Last year's winner, Bradley Cooper, who follows previous winners such as George Clooney, Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt, addressed giving up the “crown” during his appearance on the “Today” show with Matt Lauer on Tuesday morning.

Cooper, who was on the morning show promoting his new movie “Silver Linings Playbook,” was asked by Lauer how he was going to deal with someone else taking the title. “I think it was instituted back with [George] Clooney, but there's a whole decompression,”  Cooper joked. “After this I get whisked away to somewhere in Wisconsin and they talk me down for a week. I think Matt Damon runs [the program] now.”

Tatum, 32, who starred in the stripper movie based on his experience as a dancer when he was a teen in Florida, also starred in this year's film version of the show "21 Jump Street,” which starred past “Sexiest Man” winner Johnny Depp. Tatum will be reprising his “Jump Street” role in a planned sequel.

The actor/producer/dancer has already received another magazine honor this week after being names one of GQ's “Men of the Year.” He shared cover duties with previous “Sexiest Man Alive” Affleck.
