The Narrative's story is a dream

When faced with the daunting task of its first Warped Tour, The Narrative has a simple attitude: Bring it on.

"It's better than being inside an office looking outside wishing I could be playing music, which is what I've been doing for many years," says Jesse Gabriel, the Bellmore band's guitarist-singer. "It's awesome."

What makes the experience even better is that they get to play on the Nassau Coliseum stop of the tour.

"It's amazing to play there after seeing so many shows there," says singer-keyboardist Suzie Zeldin.

Gabriel says it won't be their first time at the show. "We've been there running around trying to get kids to listen to our music on an iPod," he says. "That's when it was still a dream to play Warped Tour on an actual stage. Now, we get to do it. Of course, it would be even more stellar to get to play inside."

The band's Warped Tour shows will likely be their final tour for the year, as they get ready to work on the follow-up to their gorgeous debut "The Narrative" from last year.

"We looked at other tours, but none of them really clicked," Gabriel says.

"Rather than trying to force something, it made more sense to buckle down and write a new record," adds Zeldin. In the meantime, the band is also going to release a vinyl double-album edition of "The Narrative" that includes additional acoustic versions of the songs, as well as special colored-vinyl packages in pink and purple.

"It seemed like a good way to celebrate," Zeldin says.

The Narrative plays the Kevin Says Stage at Vans Warped Tour at Nassau Coliseum July 16.
