Granted, every day is a coffee day for me. However, today is extra special because it's National Coffee Day! My fellow java drinkers, join me in celebrating this momentous occasion by meeting me at one of these Long Island locations memorializing this day:
The celebration is over at your local 7-Eleven store. However, this morning each customer received a free medium coffee, cappuccino or latte. The participating times were from 7 to 11 a.m. (Get it?)
If you happen to be passing through Penn Station on your way home tonight, head on over to the only Krispy Kreme in the state of New York and get yourself a free 12-ounce cup of House Blend coffee. There is no purchase necessary.
My favorite place! Though you won't get any free coffee here, you can get a medium coffee (hot or iced) for just 50 cents all day long.
It's no wonder coffee is the second-most traded commodity on Earth (oil, of course, being the first). So, while you're downing your second (OK, let's be honest . . . third) cup of joe, be sure to thank George Washington. No, not THAT George Washington. The Belgian man living in Guatemala who invented instant coffee in 1906. Yes, THAT George Washington.
Now excuse me while I go order my double tall, nonfat, half-caf, extra hot caramel macchiato, extra foam, 1 packet of sugar, half packet of Equal and caramel sauce. (Don't you hate those people?)
