Demi Lovato, who graces the September issue of Cosmopolitan, has taken to Instagram to respond to protesters who are criticizing her sexy cover.
In April, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation launched a campaign calling for the magazine to be covered in stores so that children don't see what the organization considers the magazine's racy covers. Last month, Rite Aid drugstores and Food Lion supermarkets announced they would be shielding the magazine.
Lovato, 22, posted an Instagram message with the hashtag #unwrapmycosmo to defend her stance.
"What these individuals who are protesting don't understand is that for the first time in a long time I feel incredibly EMPOWERED and the MOST BEAUTIFUL I've ever felt on this magazine," Lovato wrote. "It's so liberating to be able to show the world how confident a woman can be once she learns to love herself."
Actress Emma Watson opens up in the September issue of Vogue UK about her "horrendous" breakup with rugby star Matt Janney in December and how she got through it.
"I went on a silent retreat, because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself."
Watson, 25, went to a retreat in the Canadian Rockies where residents are required to take a weeklong vow of silence.
