Hollywood Life: No songs for Lady Gaga in FX's 'American Horror Story'

Most of the details regarding Lady Gaga and her role on FX's upcoming season of "American Horror Story" have been kept under wraps -- until now. Series creator Ryan Murphy shared some news about Gaga's first foray into acting and if she and her castmates, including Broadway vet Cheyenne Jackson, will break out in song.

"People keep saying to me, 'What numbers are they singing, what numbers are they singing?' " Murphy told "There will be no numbers. The interesting thing is we cast a lot of singers this season, but I like that singers -- for the most part -- . . . [tend to be] great actors, because they know how to sell a story through song."

Murphy added no one will miss Gaga's singing after seeing her act. "I think that's why Gaga was excited about it," he said. "It's not something that she's ever done before. It's a pure acting part."

He also said next season will be "more horror-based," as well as "a little bloodier and grislier."

'Lip' shtick

On the July 9 Season 2 premiere of Spike TV's "Lip Sync Battle," Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard of "Empire" will go head to head. The two Oscar-nominated actors play former spouses who often clash on the smash Fox series, so they're no strangers to competing against each other. Others slated to do "Battle" include Will Arnett, Victoria Justice and Iggy Azalea.
