Paula Deen is the latest celebrity who will appear on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars," HollywoodLife.com has learned.
The Southern TV chef has had a rough few years. She was fired from Food Network in 2013 after admitting in a deposition to having used racial slurs a year earlier. Then Deen was involved in another controversy last month. A photo of herself dressed up as "I Love Lucy" character Lucy Ricardo, posing next to her son Bobby Deen in apparent brownface as Ricky Ricardo, was posted, then quickly deleted from Paula Deen's Twitter account. A representative of the restaurateur and cookbook author told Entertainment Weekly that the social media manager for Paula Deen Ventures had been fired for posting the image and that Deen apologized "to all who were offended."
Competing against Paula Deen on "Dancing" are previously announced celebs Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin; American Pharoah jockey Victor Espinoza, and Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter.
The new season begins Sept. 14 on ABC.
