Hollywood Life: 'Sharknado 3' star Ian Ziering recounts real-life shark encounter

If Ian Ziering, star of tonight's Syfy movie "Sharknado 3," looks so skilled at fending off those sharks on screen, it might be because he once had a real-life shark encounter.

"I did see a mako shark -- a good 10-foot shark. . . . This thing came swimming at me and when he got close enough I could see that the teeth point at you and then continue to go into the mouth," he said of the experience while swimming inside a steel cage.

The incident happened when Ziering, 51, was doing a reality show about safe waterways called "Beach Patrol" several years ago off Catalina Island in Southern California.

"We did a shark dive," he said. "I was in the water for about an hour, an hour and a half, but I wasn't deep. You only need to go under the surface. . . . We threw a lot of chum in the water to attract them, and they showed up."

The buzz on Levine

Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine surprised everyone Tuesday by sharing an Instagram photo of his super short new buzz cut.

In the image, Levine is shown lying next to his model wife, 26-year-old Behati Prinsloo, as the two of them look intently at one another.

"She's into me . . . I think," is how Levine, 36, captioned the photo.

This isn't the first time Levine has shocked fans by changing his hair. Last year he had a brief stint when he sported platinum locks.
