The decision to cast Ben Affleck as the next Batman has been hotly debated, but "Dallas" heartthrob Jesse Metcalfe is all for it.

"I support Ben Affleck as Batman -- I think he's gonna be great," he said at the BCBGMAXAZRIA show on the first morning of New York Fashion Week. "I think Batman should have that charm and sense of humor."

Metcalfe was pretty charming himself, in a gray cardigan and black pants, his dark hair slicked back.

"I'm looking forward to wearing fall clothing in general," he said. "There are a lot of great jackets, a lot of great menswear lines."

He did complain that Los Angeles doesn't get cold enough to wear some of the outerwear he's had his eye on, but we didn't feel too bad for him.

As for work, Metcalfe talked about doing an independent film.

"I just want to get the opportunity to show what I'm capable of," he said.

And we're sure he will.
